Things were going great for the Small family and Max wasn’t the only animal around.

Ed had let a stray cat in the house which he had nicknamed Noodle.

Unfortunately the cat was even less discliplined than Max was.

The family decided that one pet was enough for now.

By the end of Autumn Ed was a fully grown man.

The first snowfall of winter was here and Sue enjoyed playing outside with Max.

But Max himself didn’t like the snow very much. He felt cold. Very cold.

In fact, Max’s life with the Small family came to an end before winter was even getting started.

The Smalls gathered by the family graveyard and comforted each other, but Sue didn’t even want to be touched.

Max wasn’t with them for very long, but the Small family would always remember what happiness he brought to them.
